Homeschoolers Horsemanship Program

Homeschoolers Horsemanship Semester Program:

Our full program will dive deeper into the world of horses and riding with our Homeschoolers Horsemanship Program Fall and Spring Semester.  The ages for this program are 5-13 year old's and suitable for those with no previous horse experience. This program will be 2.5 hours and run weekly from September through April excluding Holiday weeks. Sign ups will be on a 4 month basis for this program. This program will include multiple guest speakers and even more hands on experience as we dive deeper into our introductory program topics plus so many more. Proper riding attire is required for this program and must be approved. Helmets will be provided. This class is always growing and meant to be taken for multiple semester to continue gaining horse knowledge and riding abilities. This class also includes access to all of our Deep Roots Farm additional activities such as our home horse shows, monthly extra riding, and our farm fun chore days.  Our dates and times are listed below! The tuition per Semester of 14 classes is $300 paid over 3 months and a non refundable deposit  of $100 is due at sign up to secure spot. Tuition includes course book and materials.

Taught over the year with each class being divided up into interactions with horses (feeding, grooming, tacking, care and riding ) and units of interdisciplinary study. Some topics are listed below and will be broken into age appropriate materials.

- Science (Riding healthy horses, biology of horses and horticulture)

-Math (horse measuring and weighing, economics of horse ownership)

-History (history of horses and traditions of breeds)

-Physical Education (riding and conditioning for riding)

-Social Studies (Herd Dynamics)

-Literature (horses in film)

-Art (drawing and painting horses)

-Equine First Aid and Safety

Although the topics listed above are important to further the students understanding of horses the most important aspect of our program is the life skills that come from our weekly interactions with horses. Working with horses develops compassion, problem- solving and communication skills that build self confidence and leadership skills

**If any sessions are listed as FULL but you are interested in that group, please fill out the sign up form to be added to the waitlist**

Barn Management Program:

This  horsemanship class is for independent rider aged 9 and up that are interested in learning more about barn management. Ideally our homeschool horsemanship class is taken prior to this but students can come for an evaluation to see if this would be good fit for them if not.  This would be very similar to our other class but run for 2 hours in the morning. This class will be for some older more advanced students who would like to learn more about what it takes to run a farm!

Homeschoolers Horsemanship Introductory mini sessions:

Our introduction to homeschoolers horsemanship is designed to teach kids more about horses in and out of the saddle, this consists of 2 Introductory programs: Homeschoolers Horsemanship  mini session 1 (HH 101) and Homeschoolers Horsemanship mini session 2 (HH 102).  These mini sessions are each 4 weeks long at the introductory level that are great for kids new to horses or with prior horse experience. Each week will include hands on experience and riding time (weather depending). Our full program will dive deeper into the world of horses and riding with our Homeschoolers Horsemanship Program.

Our mini sessions curriculum will focus on hands on learning followed by age appropriate worksheet or activity to check/review the information learned.  Each session will include an in the saddle portion where each child will have personalized riding instruction to match the students riding abilities. The recommended ages for our mini sessions are 5 through 12 years old. No riding or horse experience necessary.

Homeschoolers Horsemanship mini session 1 (HH 101): Spring 2025 FULL
